Re: How to remove FOCUSING SCREEN of k10d
Wrong forex conversion, the focusingscreen.com screens are 3,200 and 1,600 pesos respectively, plus shipping.

Re: How to remove FOCUSING SCREEN of k10d
John, if you want to order your focusing screen from Sanly's, I recommend you do it as soon as you can. I ordered my Divided Matte screen waaaaay back in.... September? and it STILL hasn't arrived yet. In the meantime, I've been making do with the Scaled Matte, the LL-80.
And yeah, it's great that the screens are cheap. .gif)

Re: How to remove FOCUSING SCREEN of k10d
Useful info in this thread.
@Bong, @Orly, @everyone.... Thanks for the info; much appreciated.
At the time I just had my friend's X700 CLA'd so the VF was squeaky clean, that may explain my impression of it's superior brightness over my own cameras. I guess it's time I had mine cleaned, too. Except for a Nikon F3, my SLR's aren't exactly at the same level (P3n, XR20), and I can see that my VF's need cleaning. But looking through a clean VF like that made me want to try the Pentax models with the biggest & brightest VF. That would be the MX and ME, right? Almost got a deal on a ME Super but got beaten to it.

Tsk...a P3n? The P series' VF/prism has this nasty habit of ...what do you call it?... growing something in it that cannot be removed. It may be fungi or simply lenses in the prism separating and the glue turning black. Either case, uncared for a dark dirty streak grows in the viewfinder. I've had a P30t and P3n do that on me.

I've seen that grotty fungus in a K1000 as well. It seems to grow on the prism.

Re: How to remove FOCUSING SCREEN of k10d
I hate to sound anti-Sino but remember that the P3 series were made in China (at least the ones I have) and certain makes of the K1000. I sorta blame it on that (I could be wrong though). My son's A3D (A3000 Date) is showing some signs of separation in the VF/prism (Made in Japan) so that might be susceptible to it was well. I skipped the Program A/Program Plus & Super A/Super Program because I did not like pushing buttons so I have limited experience with that.
The MX/ME is a wise choice--I've had a total of 5 MXs and 2 MEs and none of them exhibited that phenomena in the viewfinder/prism.

Re: How to remove FOCUSING SCREEN of k10d
ok i'm now officially on the lookout for a pentax MX
although i might end up with a ME Super instead since the ebay prices for used MX are much higher... i've never seen a MX or LX in Hidalgo, but have seen a couple of ME Super come and go.... i read that the MX & ME have the biggest & brightest VF (.97x vs .95x seems close enough?).

Re: How to remove FOCUSING SCREEN of k10d
Hope you find an MX!
I saw a couple a month or so ago but the ME Super does seem more plentiful here and in eBay as well.
